MISSION SOS ARUSHA

Arusha, with a population of 416,442, is a city in north east Tanzania. It is the capital of the Arusha Region below Mount Meru on the eastern edge of the east branch of the Great Rift Valley and Mount Kilimanjaro.

MISSIONS SOS International Evangelist (TC grad) Johannes Amritzer, 175 evangelists from around the world, our African TC Team and local volunteers brought a powerful message as our teams invaded the darkness with God's LIGHT.

The team ministered to nearly 100,000 people, in Arusha--in schools, on the festival grounds and in strategic street meetings across the city. SOS AID cared for 1,422 people, offering free diagnostic care, vision tests and free eye glasses.

On the street, our teams ministered on corners, at intersections and in markets to over 11,000 people. More than 2,600 came forward on the street to make first time confessions of faith in Jesus Christ. Each were given follow up materials and referred to a local church involved in the meeting. We saw hundreds of healings, fillings with the Holy Spirit and deliverance on the street.

Each night, crowds flooded into Uwanja Shiek Amri Abid Stadium for "Sherehe Y Ishara Na Maajabu" – a Festival of Signs and Wonders led by missionary evangelist Johannes Amritzer. Tens of thousands sang, danced, worshiped and praise. Music, drama and powerful ministry in the Word climaxed each night, finishing with an invitation to meet Jesus and an opportunity for healing. God never disappoints. He moved powerfully as over 7,500 confessed Jesus. There were 942 documented healings. There was deliverance and thousands were filled with the Holy Spirit.

MISSION SOS AFRICA CAPITAL CITIES TOUR
Come with us to the front lines and behind the scenes with this 3 minute video of SOS ARUSHA. See what God did through MISSION SOS, Johannes Amritzer, & their partnership with GTC Africa. We DO NOT take these victories for granted. Thank you for being part of the real SPIRITUAL WARFARE! Please continue to intercede and battle for souls, and for fruit that remains.
This 3 minute video is our way of saying THANK YOU for being a part of the MIRACLE. Please pray as I prepare to head to Egypt.

The GTC team of 20 leaders joined us from across Africa. From South Africa to Uganda to Kenya and Burundi, we are seeing a powerful voice of freedom rising from Teen Challenge leadership as Dr Nomdoe leads GTC Africa. They will carry this ministry paradigm back to their nations. Please pray for the move of God in Africa! From elite, prestigious Christian schools to township schools for the most needy and marginalized to villages outside of Arusha, the MISSION SOS KIDS team, led by Lauren, Micky, Sahra and Pamela carried the Gospel to over 17,000 children. Thousands gathered at the festival field for the climactic final meeting.
It was exciting to work with SOS KIDS again. We ministered to over 17,000 kids in schools, communities, on the festival grounds and on the street.
E-VOTION
OPEN MY EYES
SOS KIDS
A powerhouse in the SOS Adventure arsenal of ministry is SOS KIDS.  As Johannes ministered in the evening festivals there was a steady stream of people, carried screaming and thrashing into the “FREEDOM tent,” for deliverance from the influence of demonic spirits. God moved powerfully and we saw so many powerful stories of freedom. But there is something better!

The vision SOS Kids is to raise up young people filled with the power of God and  the anointing of the Holy Spirit who will not NEED deliverance from demonic influence. SOS Kids are training young spirit-filled leaders, who will not be seduced by witch doctors, peer pressure or the influence of “gongo," (home-brewed mix of alcohol and formaldehyde -hallucinogenic, highly addictive) ganga (marijuana), and the drugs of the day. It is a great testimony to be set free from drugs but a greater testimony never to fall victim to them.

RESULTS

TOTAL KIDS-- 17,363
Commitments-- 5,055
Holy Spirit- 0630
Healing-- 0061
Deliverance-- 0003
Please pray with us for the lasting results. God moved powerfully among the children, M^sl^m, Hindu, animist, or atheist. As the power of God fell, they came to Jesus. Lame walked, deaf children received hearing, blind received their sight. . Imagine when they went home from school --Tajani went home, when she saw her mom, she said, "Mommy You are so beautiful to see."

Johannes is such a gifted gospel messenger that he connects with everyone. From presidents, kings, & prime ministers to street children. This little boy gave his heart to Jesus Christ & was baptized in the Holy Spirit. Not only that, he drew a picture of Johannes, the “Mwana wa Mugu" (man of God) as his "thank you" for a changed life.

"Then Elisha prayed and said,
"O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see."

2 Kings 6:17

We don’t know the servant’s name. He was the new guy replacing Gehazi who had been rejected, overcome by greed, dishonesty, and disobedience.

I am sure the servant was excited about his new job. Word was out that Elisha was the secret weapon. God kept showing him the troop movements of the king of Aram so Israel was winning every battle. Here, he was in a place of preeminence. He was Homeland Security, NSA and the CIA all wrapped in one. As director of supernatural espionage, Elisha didn’t need a confirmation hearing with the Sanhedrin. He was confirmed by Jehovah.

The servant awakens early in the morning for devotions. He casually glances down from the wall of the city and catches a glint of sunlight flashing from a sword. Another flash from a shield catches his attention. Imagine his surprise as he hears Aramean soldiers shouting commands, the sound of horses hoof beats and the rumbling of the wheels of war as the chariots of Aram’s elite fighting force deploy for an all-out assault on the city.

“How can this be?” he thinks. “I better run to tell Elisha. He'll be so grateful I am here to warn to him. He can send to the king for reinforcements. We have to do something. Thanks to me, they may get here in time.“

The servant said to Elisha, "Alas, my master! What shall we do?"

He sees no fear in Elisha’s eyes. Elisha doesn’t even seem grateful that his young protégé has come to save the day with such strategic advice. He doesn’t immediately summon a messenger to run to the king of Israel nor take any action to thwart the inevitable attack of the enemy. In fact, Elisha doesn’t seem to care at all.

It is foolishness to trust the illusion that what we see is more real than the promise of God

I can imagine him looking the old prophet up and down thinking, “I know Elisha is a good brother and he’s been very effective in the past. But let’s face it, he’s not as young as he used to be. He had better wake up. He looks up expectantly as Elisha begins to speak.

16  (Elisha) answered, "Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them." 17  Then Elisha prayed and said, "O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see."

“More with us than against us?? Maybe you better forget about praying for my eyes and pray God opens your own eyes, old man! Can’t you see? I’ve got very good eyes. I think you spent too many years poring over those crazy scrolls!”

The servant, blinded by circumstances and the fear of the moment, is unable to see that God has opened Elisha’s eyes to another world that is beyond the reach of his natural eyesight. Opposition and disappointment can do that to us.

Our problem is the basic human arrogance that somehow empowers a mentality that the realm that we live in is reality, and that everything else is something less. It does not occur to us that that which is not visible to our gaze or beyond our physical touch might just be a realm greater than ours.

It is foolishness to trust the illusion that what we see is more real than the promise of God. Even when circumstances all around you seem to be falling apart, never lose sight of the fact that God is with you. Only the authority of God’s Word keeps all things together. If you quit in your disappointment, you will never see God’s promise.

I‘m not arguing against the reality of this world, but there is a world from which everything in this world came into being.  The basic laws of thermo dynamics demonstrate that “that world” must be greater than this world, because it is out of that power, this entire world came into being. All that is real and tangible, everything that came into being, came into being from the realm of the Spirit. (John 1:1-2)

When we see the living God who created all things – and glorify Him, then my “real world” is invaded by the glory of the One who is greater than this world.  God’s promise gives substance to my world and my eyes are open.

Don't let me be blind like Gideon sitting in a cave in fear, questioning God's miracles waiting for God to move, when God was waiting on him to move. This man cowering in cave had no idea he was the Mighty Man of Valor that God was looking for (Judges 6:2)--until he stepped out.

Don’t let me be like Saul on a misguided crusade to destroy all that was real until God let the “Scales fall from his eyes and Paul found his true calling. (Acts 9:8)

Deliver me from being like the disciples as they stood before the "Bread of Life," saying we have no bread. Let me see I have all I need when I put it in HIS hands.

Take my focus off of my circumstances and my eyes off of my pain. Take my attention off of the enemy.  Deliver me from every distraction. HELP is on the way, even before I ask. GOD OPEN MY EYES!

Open my EYES that
I may behold wonderful
things from you law.

Psalm 119:18

MISSION TEAM SPOTLIGHT--TRAINING
As Tanzania Teen Challenge tackles their the next giant, under the direction of Superintendent Barnabas Mtokambali and National Leader Bishop Mbuke, they are launching 3 residential centers in 2019. A new center opened in Manyoni in the Spring. A new center in Mwazna opened last week with their first student, a heroin addict who confessed faith in Jesus Christ at MISSION SOS. Another center is slated for fall launch in Dar es Salaam (see their new building below). With such a challenge before them, one of their greatest needs was training. Aaron has been in Africa training leaders. He and Joseph visited Mwanza to do training.
It was a blessing to have a world-class team of teachers from across Africa who sacrificed to remain in Tanzania to share dynamic, practical, "hands-on" training.
UGANDA-Didas
KENYA
- Kajani, Lucas, Countryman, Felix
SOUTH AFRICA - Bentley, Jeswaine, and Mitchell and Aaron Bugbee from the USA. All brought fresh African perspective to the Teen Challenge great commission ministry model of transformation, not just recovery to hungry leaders.

ABOVE: Joseph & Jeswaine taught on the Intake Interview. One of the addicts who confessed faith in Jesus at the festival joined us & we did the intake interview so staff could witness the process. As we prayed, he committed to lay down his heroin and decided to come into TC Mwanza.
M^ls^m SOBER HOUSE

Building on our success in Morogoro, we were able to coordinate a meeting for over 100 "recovering addicts" from 3 Free At Last Sober Houses. These centers are M^sl^m programs employing the 12-Step model. They gave us unprecedented freedom to share as we built the relationship in Morogoro and over the week leading up to our meeting in Arusha.
The meeting started with a bit of tension. One man shouted-
“You are of the b-stard seed of Abraham. We are of Ishmael, the true seed!
We continued to minister and the compelling Love of Jesus began to the work. We began to see those scowls turn to smiles as the Holy Spirit moved, they responded. After music, testimony and the Word, I asked if anyone would like to commit their lives to Jesus. I looked to the director and he nodded as hands began to go up across the yard.
What a blessing to see scowls turn to smiles as the Holy spirit moved. It was overwhelming as they responded, stood and then came to the altar to confess faith in Jesus, Over 80 came to the altar and 72 completed a decision card in the back of Johannes FOLLOW UP book asking for more help. HALLELUJAH !! it was Awesome
We have a discipleship plan in place. Sheltiel, a local TAG minister who helped us to coordinate with Asif to get all 3 houses transported to Kosomomo has the cards and is doing the follow up.
Since FREE AT LAST is a lock up facility, the clients cannot go out to church, but Sheltiel will be visiting to minister. Bishop Mbuke is coordinating those who want to come to the new TC in Mwanza that opened on Aug 1. With SOS, we provided Bibles and Bro Johannes' follow-up book to every resident.

PRAYER REQUESTS

PRAYER

FOCUS

Again I say
unto you,
That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done
for them of
my Father which is in heaven.

1) MISSION SOS SOBER HOUSE ARUSHA

Please join with us as we pray for God to give lasting fruit from this unique ministry opportunity. In partnership with Mission SOS AID, we targeted 3 more "M^sl~m sober houses." 106 students joined us. As we visited to meet practical needs, we provided a Bible for each of the students. 80 men came forward to confess Faith in Jesus. We have a follow-up team in place. Pray that God continues to move powerfully in their lives.

One of the directors confided to me that so many of the men leaving the Sober Houses relapse and go back to drugs. I suggested perhaps those that want the help that TC offers could come to one of our emerging programs for additional help.
He was delighted with the possibility.

2) NEXT UP --EGYPT

I will be traveling with Jacobus Nomdoe to Cairo, Egypt in October to meets with Dr Ehab and the Freedom House program as we partner to reach addicts in Egypt. Many of you know this has been a matter of prayer since we met Dr. Ehab in Cambodia years ago.
Let us pray for favor and open doors for TC in Northern Africa.

3) SENSITIVE NATION

Since our last e mail another explosion has rocked our center. We thank God for amazing TC leaders serving in sensitive nations. As we ask for your prayers, we are rejoice at the miracles that happen as courageous leaders are protected as they carry the Good News. Thank God for His protection as this explosion took place near one of our centers. God protected the students and TC team.

3) FALL SCHEDULE

We appreciate your prayers as we are finalizing our schedule for Nigeria in November. We are poised for miracles.
Stand with us.

4) GTC Global Executive Council

Thank you for praying as Cathy represented the Evangelism Department at the Global Teen Challenge convened their Annual Executive Council at Global Headquarters in Columbus, Georgia. Key leaders from every Teen Challenge Region around the world met to pray, cast vision and advance the vision of putting hope within reach of every person! Dr Nance shared a defining word and a new peer counseling model was shared as GTC reaffirmed the call of God to keep Jesus at the center of all that we do.

5) TAG 80th Anniversary Celebration

We thank God for Bishop Barnabas Mtokambali. He has been a champion of the Ministry of Teen Challenge in Tanzania and across the continent. He hosted the 80th Anniversary Celebration of the Tanzania Assemblies of God, we were honored that Jeff Garrett and the TAG invited us to join them for this celebration.
It is a tremendous blessing to see how God is moving in the Tanzania Assemblies of God as they are powerfully impacting the the continent and their nation. What an honor to be given my own Masai-wrap and club as a Kingdom Warrior - in true Masai tradition. May the lion of Addiction be slain in the name of Jesus.

6) MISSIONS SOS FESTIVAL

The real work of the festival is now in the hands of the follow-up team as they meet those who made commitments. Pam Ayres is working with SOS KIDS setting up groups and discipleship for the kids.

Next the MISSION SOS Team will prepare for the next major outreach in Kilgoris, Kenya over Thanksgiving--Kenya TC is hoping to launch a TC in Masai-land in conjunction with MISSION SOS.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pray with us for the global advance of the gospel.
Pray for workers for the Harvest ...
We have Teen Challenge Centers in 125 countries and we currently have invitations to start Teen Challenge in many new nations. They are crying out for help and need staff.
They need the power of God to meet a pressing social need... but we know it has a SPIRITUAL ROOT.
We offer SPIRITUAL RESOURCES to meet PRACTICAL needs.
MATTHEW 9: 37 Then He said to His disciples,
“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.
38 Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send
out workers into His harvest.”
